Greetings from the Mission Rwentobo trustees and the clinic team!

Thanks to your incredible generosity, Hope Community Clinic has grown tremendously since opening in May 2019 and now provides many vital services to the Rwentobo community, including weekly childhood vaccinations, full maternity care, family planning, and a new monthly mobile outreach clinic which provides childhood vaccinations, antenatal care and HIV screening. Many children have received prompt treatment for malaria and gastro-intestinal disease which has saved lives and given parents hope instead of despair.

The clinic has grown so strong under the supervision of the Kisiizi Hospital management team that it is now ready to take its next big step: becoming an independent, private not-for-profit Health Centre III.

Known as Project Hope, this exciting transition is a testament to the clinic’s strength. Kisiizi Hospital will continue its partnership through health insurance access and has generously donated all loaned equipment to the clinic. We are also incredibly blessed by a legal adviser who is supporting us through this transition completely pro bono.

As the Clinic has developed, Mission Rwentobo has funded all the capital expenditure and about 2/3rds of the day to day operating costs. Currently  it costs around £3000 a month to run the Clinic,  £1000 is covered by patient fees and the insurance fund and that leaves Mission Rwentobo to cover about £2000.  To ensure a seamless transition with zero interruption to staff salaries or community services, we need to  build up a three-month operational reserve fund.  It would also be good to increase regular donations in order to cover the day-to-day costs so, i  f you are able to donate extra funds at this crucial time, or share this update with family and friends, your support will directly secure the clinic's future.

Success Story: Welcome Baby Gift!

Your donations are actively saving lives! On 17th August, Baby Gift was born weighing 3.4kg. Thanks to our wonderful team of midwives and your donated resuscitation equipment, a difficult delivery became a beautiful success. After two days observation, Mother and baby were discharged happy, healthy, and deeply grateful.

Looking Forward to the October Mission Trip

An enthusiastic team of 8 adults and three teenagers is heading to Uganda this October, including a recent valuable addition to the team, 18yr old Jacob, who will be a great support to the three teenagers. Our goal is to live out 1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Encourage one another and build each other up." The team will support local schools, communities, and the clinic. We will try to send updates of our activities while we are in Uganda via Mail Chimp and Mission Rwentobo Instagram so please encourage anyone interested to sign up for details.

Our inspiring teenagers are working hard to fundraise for their flights.  A garden party in June raised £1,000 and Josie Haselden is tackling the Tonbridge Walking Marathon on 20th September to raise more funds. Please sponsor her by using the GoFundMe page set up by Noah Swann for all three teens.

Also, please join us on 10th October for a Clothes Swap and Refreshments featuring live background music from Noah and Tom Swann! Check out the flyer for details—all leftover clothes will be taken to Uganda as aid

Aid items required to take to Uganda: If you are able to donate any of the following, they can be delivered to my home: 41, Darwin Drive, TN10 4SA on Thursday 8th October or on an alternative date by arrangement.

  • Baseball caps for children and adults and sun hats for children
  • Children’s flip flops or crocs
  • Ladies light weight scarves and men’s ties
  • Baby clothes including babygros up to age 2 years
  • Children’s light weight clothes, sweat shirts and cardigans
  • Adult and children’s waterproof jackets

Thank you for your ongoing prayers, love, and support for Hope Community Clinic and its wonderful team who continue to go the extra mile to deliver compassionate healthcare to a very needy community. The Mission Rwentobo trustees and the October Mission Team would appreciate your ongoing prayers in the coming weeks and months.

With love and blessings,
