On Thursday 3rd August, a group of five of us from the Paddle Cabin completed our SUP challenge to cover the whole 29km of the River Medway Canoe trail on our paddle boards. We left Tonbridge at 8.30 am and after portaging around 9 locks and with a few breaks, we arrived at Alllington Lock, tired but happy at 5.30pm.  Thanks to your generous donations, over £3,000 was raised including JustGiving and offline donations. This money has already been sent to Kisiizi Hospital so that they can pay a new Clinical Officer and a new Registered midwife for Hope Community Clinic from September to December 2023. Interviews are now in progress. There was also enough to cover the cost of a new delivery bed and new scrubs uniforms for the whole clinic team.A MASSIVE thank you goes to all those who donated and to those who prayed.

The clinic team have been greatly encouraged by recent visits from Mission Rwentobo trustees and their families. The above photos show Benson Mugyenyi (our trustee from Glasgow) and his family,  who were able to visit in July, and Arthur and Josephine Magoola and their children who visited ion August.Debbie and Mick Burke will be visiting Kisiizi Hospital from 14th to 18th September and Hope Community Clinic in Rwentobo from 19th to 26th September. Please pray for safe travels with all luggage arriving intact, for effective communications with staff from Kisiizi, the clinic and World Shine Ministries, as we join a management team meeting on 19th September. Also, that time will be well used to support the community and the clinic. Please also pray that changes that are required to the clinic building and facilities, in order to extend maternity services to include deliveries, can be made by the end of the year.  This will enable the clinic to play its part in reducing the number of tragic maternal and neonatal deaths that occur in this deprived area, as a demonstration of God’s love and care for all.We look forward to sharing some updates during or after our time in Uganda, sharing stories of the impact that the clinic is having on the Rwentobo community and beyond.  Thank you for your support and encouragement. Debbie Burke (on behalf of Mission Rwentobo).
